There is a huge problem in Omaha relating to roofs. The City of Omaha alone has a list of over 450 homes in the older parts of Omaha that need replacing. The City is no longer providing this service due to the extreme cost of labor and material.
Roof replacement is very costly, and many older homeowners do not have insurance to cover replacement. When a roof goes the house is in serious jeopardy of deteriorating as well.
The "Roof Repair and Replacement Program" is part of our long term goals. If we find a benefactor to help fund this program we will initiate our plan. Currently there is no program addressing this need in Omaha.
Rebuilding Together is in early stages of developing a major campaign to repair or replace 350 roofs in Omaha with a budget of $3.5 million over 3 years.
This will not be a volunteer program, but we are looking for organizations that might want to consider or are willing to help financially support this program.
